We're so blessed in San Diego to be able to play in the ocean in November! This year has been exceptionally warm, and a trip to the beach still seems to be the popular thing to do. These kids sure did take advantage of the warm fall day! And boy were they fun! I was so worn out following this kids around the beach, climbing the rocks, running up and down the beach - made me feel like a kid again!

Introducing Grace Jennifer

Grace Jennifer arrived on June 22, 2008, beautiful and more perfect than anything! My very own daughter to love and to cherish. A perfect gift from God! She is now two months old, as of yesterday, and I'm just now posting about her. She has just kept me busy these past two months, and we're finally settling into a nice routine, or should I say, I'm finally understanding when and how she likes to nap! She is a perfect nighttime sleeper, thank God! But during the day, she likes to be held. I love to hold her all day long, but Noah still needs my attention. So, now, my life, my family's life is forever changed by this sweet little girl.

I'm ready to start taking on sessions again, sooner than I thought, but at first, I plan to take it slow, only accepting a limited number of sessions. If you would like to schedule a session for your holiday photos, please don't wait too long, or I might not be able to fit you in this year!

There is a time for every season!

Yes, I'm about to close one season of my life and enter another. I'm going from being the mother of one to being the mother of two in just a couple short months. Sometime in June, our family is expecting a perfect baby girl!

Starting immediately, Jennifer Jabbour Photography will no longer be able to accept new clients until further notice, and will consider accepting limited sessions with established clients as my health allows. I have been told by my doctor, after a morning of regular contractions, that I need to take it easy... whatever that means! I'm assuming that means I should not be doing sessions, though.

I plan to relaunch Jennifer Jabbour Photography in early 2009, but that all depends on how life as a mother of two goes. My first and foremost priority is my family and I will never allow photography to keep me from that priority.

In the meantime, I highly suggest you consider using Cristina Thornburg Photography to meet your photography needs. Just let her know that Jennifer sent you and she'll make sure to give you the VIP treatment!

Pumpkin Patch

Every fall, one of my favorite traditions is to take Noah to the pumpkin patch.... to take pictures, of course! I took last Friday off in honor mine and my husband's birthdays and thought it was a perfect (cloudy/overcast) day for pumpkin patch pictures! The past couple years have been so sunny, dang it! :D

Anyways, here's some favorites from our little session. Noah can be bribed with candy corn!

October is my favorite month of the year. The main reason is that my birthday is October 15th! I also share the month with my husband and dad, so it's a month of birthdays! Who doesn't love birthday cake?

I also feel that the beginning of October signifies that fall is really here! I love fall - I think it may be my favorite season. I love fall colors, and the feeling in the air - that feeling that tells me that Christmas is almost near! Because I just LOVE Christmas! I love taking my son to the pumpkin patch every October, and will keep that a tradition as long as I can!

With so much to look forward to in the next few months, how could I not be excited! The last 3 months of the year really are the most wonderful times of the year!

I had the pleasure of meeting little G and her mommy and daddy at the beach early yesterday morning. The weather was great, and despite the high tide and an early soaking (watch out for those waves, G!!!), we still managed to have a lot of fun and get some great pictures.

Little G, you are hilarious! I especially loved it when you argued with me about the color of my eyes. Yes, my eyes are blue! :)

I'm always looking for some fresh faces to add to my portfolio! So I thought it would be fun to hold a contest to see who my next Fresh Face is going to be!

Do you think your child is model material (and the cutest ever)? Is he / she photogenic, enjoys having their picture taken and is cooperative? Then keep reading for some details.

How does it work?
If you have a child between the ages of 6 months and 12 years of age and have not had a session with Jennifer in the past 6 months, you can enter. Submit a recent (non-professional) photo to jennifer@jenniferjabbour.com . Be sure to put FRESH FACES in the subject line. (at this time prints will not be accepted)

Entries close on September 15th, midnight PST.

All entries must include the child's name, date of birth, and a valid contact email of parent or legal guardian (grandparents, you must have permission from parents to enter your grandchild.
No names will be publicly announced, except for the top 2 winners and only first names will be released). Also, if someone referred you to the contest that is a current client, please include their name so I can give them the proper thank you.

Twins and multiples may be entered together.

All submitted photos must be recent (within 4 weeks of submission)

Once entries close, a panel of professional photographers (not including myself) will vote for the winner.

Seashells and Beach Beauties

These two beauties were such a pleasure to photograph! I was amazed at how quickly they warmed up to me and my camera. It was a treat for me when they would actually make eye contact over and over again, and even pose the way I asked them to.

I love their gorgeous blonde hair and their beautiful eyes! Both seemed just so sweet and if it weren't so close to nap time, I'm sure we could've went on much longer than we did.

When little N was just 6 days old, I had the priveledge to photograph him, and yesterday I got to photograph him again, along with his big sister, A. I can't believe how fast he has grown already! I love all him and all his chunkiness. And little A is about as sweet as can be! I'm not sure she cared much for my camera, but in the end, when I asked if she liked me, she said yes and even gave me a kiss! Then when I asked if I could take her picture, she smiled so sweetly! As summer comes to an end, and we gear up for another school year, I thought it would be fun to share our favorite summer memories.

My favorite summer memory this year is just from this past weekend, teaching my son how to swim. He's only 3, but he's determined to learn how. Photography Workshop Success

Just a little over a week ago, I held my first photography workshop for parents. It was a great success, at least in my opinion! We talked about the basics of what makes a photo good and then I sent the parents on their way with a challenge - take a photo applying what they learned, and submit it for a photo contest against their peers.

Mother’s Day Photo Contest

To enter, submit a photo of the special mom (you, your mom, your wife, etc – you get the idea) with at least one of her children taken within the last 6 months. Email photo to contests@jenniferjabbour.com. Please only one submission per family. Please insert the mom's first and last name in the subject line to make it easier to announce the winners.

Deadline for photo submission is Mother’s Day, May 13th, at midnight. All photos received after this deadline will be ignored.

This contest is only open to new clients, so if you have already had a photo session with me, please pass the word along to your friends and family so they can try to win!

Prizes
First Place – Free portrait session

Winners will be announced by 6 pm, Wednesday, May 16th right here on the blog.

Some icing on the cake

I always like doing nice things for others, especially my clients! After all it is ALL about my clients! If it weren't for you, there would be no Jennifer Jabbour Photography. There would still be a Jennifer Jabbour and a camera and lots and lots of photos of Noah, but even that would be short lived because all of those photos would end up being of Noah's back, as he runs away screaming, "No pictures!" So Noah is also very appreciative that mommy has found another outlet to satiate her photography desires.

Until May 31st, I've already put together the Mother's Day Special, which ends up being a savings of over $300 on A La Carte's, or over $100 on collections. But, as a way to say thank you, I'd like to give all my wonderful clients and client's friends and families an opportunity to save even more money.

So contact me between now and April 21st, and I will take an additional $100 off the Mother's Day Special, and expand the session to be up to 4 people for no additional cost!

Growing Up

Yes, our little boy is growing up. He turned three at the end of March. I put together the sweetest slideshow to play at his party, and can barely think about it without crying. It's incredible how much he changed in just one year. When he turned two, he was still very much a baby, but somehow he became a big boy this last year. I don't know how or when, but he's so very very big now.
I'm so grateful I take pictures of everything! The only way I can remember all the cute little things he does is with these pictures. I'm horrible at writing things down, and even printing all the photos I take, but my memory always returns when I browse through the thousands of photos I have of him.
Here's a couple of photos of our big boy.

I love this one because it shows his personality so much. He was looking at me with his "noculars".

I had to take one of his new big boy hair cut. I think cutting off his beautiful long strands made his turning three that much more difficult.

And this one is just oh, so precious. It's his Papa helping him ride his brand new bicycle.

As you may or may not know, almost all of my advertising is done by word of mouth. In order to keep prices down, I do not spend tons of money on advertisements. Instead, I would rather reward my clients for spreading my name around.

I decided I finally want to offer photo collections. When I first started this about a year ago, I thought collections were limiting, and I didn't want to do them. I thought by offering only individual prints, I was doing my clients a favor - giving them the freedom of choice. Now that my head is no longer stuck in the clouds, I realize that collections are a good thing!

I am still going to offer prints individually, but now, you can save money when you purchase a collection. Not only are the prints within the collection discounted, but you can also receive 25% off the A La Carte prints when you choose to order a collection. Another great thing about collections is how they somewhat give you direction in what to order - if you want that kind of thing... Oh, and, almost forgot to add, the more you spend, the more you save.

If you have recently done a session with me, you can take advantage of these collections, just let me know when you order so I know to give you the discount. I'll probably be pretty easy going about this and if I identify that you managed to order a collection without even knowing it, you'll get it. I just hope I catch it! It's been quite a while since I've posted anything here. The emotional storms of life sometimes come down harder than others, so between lots of things happening in my family and all the holiday chaos and viruses, I've been quite busy with my own life. But January is finally over, and February is already here! I'm ready for this new year and I'm ready to take control and get a move on things.

First a little news: You may have noticed already, I've increased my rates in hopes that this year will be quite successful. But every month I will be offering some sort of special and I have lots of fun ideas in mind, as well, like maybe a photo contest of sorts! Those of you that know me well know that I currently work full time as a technical writer and I still find time to do this photography thing. It's something I love or I probably wouldn't be doing it. I hope to one day do so well with this photography thing that I can quit the technical writer thing one day. Also, over the next day or so I hope to give my website a new look.

You guys were so fun and lively! The love the three of you share is amazing! And little E, wow! Can I just say how handsome and sweet he is? I know it was a tough session with the weather being so chilly, and getting slammed by a wave in the first five minutes isn't exactly what I had in mind; but you know, we didn't let that get us down, and all in all, I think we had a great time!

These girls were amazing and it was a pleasure to spend the evening with them, watching them run and play in the sand and water on the last evening before daylight savings.
Grace - you are beautiful! I'm so happy that we could be friends and talk about princesses and other important things! Katie - you are so sweet! And of course, Denise - like I said before, what a trooper you were!

It's that time of year - well, it's fall, the holidays are approaching, and i'm turning another year older this weekend. So happy birthday to me! Here's some recents of my little man. I love these so much. They make me smile. And something about them makes me feel all mushy gushy inside.

Why? I'm still asking that same question. Not necessarily because everybody else is doing it. Just because I love to write and journal, and although I have a website that displays my best work, I would like to write about my favorites. This won't just be about my photography, anyways. It should reflect my inner heart. It just so happens that photography is something I'm passionate about. I'm also passionate about my husband, my son, and God (in no specific order).

So, it might take some time to get this place looking like I want it to, but I'll try to keep up with the posting in the meantime.
